The total catch of oysters in Japan is 30052 tons and Akkeshi oysters accounts for only 2.12 % of that, about 638 tons. Fifty eight point two two %, 17,497 tons are produced in Hiroshima Prefecture.  

Speaking of the ratio in Hokkaido, Akkeshi Town produces 26.2% of oysters in Hokkaido.
The fisherman's association in Akkeshi Town measured the temperature of the sea in some points of inside and outside of Akkeshi Bay.
The amount of plankton is also checked at the points near the nurseries of oysters.
This kinds of checking-up is important to raise oysters even in the blessed bay because oysters eat plankton.
